39 Ruger Red Label 20 Gauge

I'm soliciting opinions on the Ruger Red Label over/under, specifically in a 20 gauge. Current Red Label owners how do you like the gun? I handled one at Gander Mountain and thought I liked it until I picked up a Browning, which was lighter, had a smoother break, and seemed better balanced (to me). Ruger ~ Red Label ~ 20 Gauge. As so many others are I can't afford the Beretta's, Brownings, quality shotguns and always leary of buying used thinking I'm buying somebody else's problems. Beautiful Ruger Red label shotgun in 20 gauge 3" chamber. This is an early version without choke tubes so the barrel lines are smooth all the way to the end of the 26" length barrels. (for those of us that dislike those bugles on the end of our shotgun barrels) This shotgun does have some use I have pointed out the worst ding in the stock for. The proportions of the 20 gauge were perfect in my eyes but I always felt the 12 gauge was a bit clunky. That's just personal opinion and is in no way a disparaging remark about those fine guns. I can get it for $850, it is an older model 2001 and has all the choke tubes etc. Shot very little and in great shape. 28" barrels, I think it is a fair deal, what do you guys think? Save.

After a couple of years shooting quail and dove the barrel separated from the receiver. I contacted Ruger and explained the problem. They told me to ship it back and they would repair it.

However, it is curtains for the economy import stackbarrel market; the Ruger Red Label is a far more desirable piece than most Turkish imports and it is just going to get worse for them as Ruger rolls out the 20 gauge version sometime towards the end of the year.
